International Dance League (IDL) is hét vernieuwende dansfestival en competitieplatform dat de internationale danswereld samenbrengt in een unieke beleving. IDL combineert de energie van street‑ en clubcultuur met de podium magie van het theater en maakt van dans meer dan alleen beweging – het is kunst, cultuur én een krachtige expressie die mensen met elkaar verbindt.
Met een duidelijke missie om urban dans toegankelijk te maken voor een breed publiek, presenteert IDL topdansers en crews in authentieke en kwalitatieve battles, showcases, workshops en meer. Door dansers van verschillende stijlen, achtergronden en niveaus samen te brengen, bevordert IDL zelfexpressie, zelfvertrouwen en een gevoel van verbondenheid, en draagt het bij aan de ontwikkeling van straat‑ en hiphopcultuur als een toonaangevende kunstvorm.
De International Dance League (IDL) is niet zomaar een competitie. Wij bouwen bruggen tussen achtergronden, overtuigingen en ervaringen. De dansstijlen die we presenteren, geven kracht en een stem aan gemeenschappen die vaak te weinig gehoord worden. Het gaat hier niet alleen om dans – het gaat om erbij horen, trots, en zelfbewustzijn.
Sinds 2019 is IDL uitgegroeid tot een krachtpatser met zowel nationale als internationale impact, en we zijn verheugd om te blijven bouwen!
De International Dance League heeft recent een meerjarige financiering ontvangen van de Gemeente Rotterdam, het Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie, en de Droom en Daad stichting voor de periode 2025–2028.
The International Dance League focuses on 3 pillars:
1. Main program: Impressive theater shows with battles
2. Audience experience: Street shows, workshops and urban theme weeks
3. Each One Teach One (talent development): training weeks, dramaturgical guidance, workshops and seminars
The dancers from different dance styles form teams, with which they train, choreograph and work towards the well-prepared and artistically high-quality showcases for two weeks. Due to their diverse composition, the teams all have their own character and are representative of many styles. Both within the teams and between the different teams, unexpected combinations and exciting crossovers take place on the battlestage. As a result, the presentations are always fresh and innovative and spectators are on the edge of their seats.
The International Dance League gives its own unique twist to the battle concept. We believe that hip-hop culture is open for everyone and should therefore be transparent. The battles therefore follow the rules of the underground, but are also explained and broken open, so that it becomes accessible to everyone. They are judged by the innovative and equal IDL judging system. The new dance competition is presented by the frontrunners of the Dutch street and club dance world.

1vs1 Hiphop, 1vs1 Open-Styles, and 5vs5 Open-Styles
1vs1 Hiphop: A solo dancer battles another strictly to Hiphop music.
1vs1 Open-Styles - Solo dancers face off, each choosing a music style for one round and dancing to the opponent's choice in another. Options include: House, Litefeet (new!), Popping, Afro, Break, Dancehall, Experimental, Krump, Locking, Waacking, Vogue.
5vs5 Open-Styles - Crew of 5 dancers competes against another. Music styles are randomly selected from our 1vs1 Open-Styles list, including Hiphop. Crews don't select a music style
Participating in multiple categories can earn you more points.
